We have loads of Custom Content at the Sims Resource, TSR, which totally includes full Sims! You can download a designed Sim with Custom Content for your game! Whether you are trying to save time, get ideas on how to design a Sim, want unique-looking Sims, or don’t think you are that great at making Sims, the artists here at TSR have them ready to go! There is a Sim for just about any occasion and theme. So, I am here today to tell you how you can install these lovely Sims and get them in your game!
How to Install Sims Into Your Game
Ok, slow down, right? How do you get these lovely Sims into your game? If you are a TSR VIP Subscriber, you have two options: you can do it yourself or let the CC Manager do it for you. If you are not a VIP Subscriber, you have option number one! I also made a short video on installing Sims that you can find Part 1 on TikTok HERE. Part 2 is coming soon!
Option #1 – Manual Installation
For Manual installation of Sims, I will keep this very simple. You first need to find your The Sims 4 Documents folder. This is generally C:/Documents/The Sims4.
From here, you will drop things into the Mods and Tray folders. The CC, such as hair, makeup, clothes, shoes, and accessories, are package files. ALL the package files go in the Mods folder.
Think of the other files, such as HHI, Householdbinary, SGI, and Tray, as your Sims settings. These files ALL go into the Tray folder.
Once you finish these steps, you can open your game and ensure that Custom Content is enabled in your settings. You can find this option in your game in settings under Options>Game Options>Other. You will have to restart your game the first time you enable it. Sometimes, after patches, you have to reenable it.
Finding The Sim In Your Game
Once all these steps have been completed, you load your game and go to the Gallery.
You want to click the My Library Tab at the top of the Gallery.
After you click this option, you must Enable Custom Content on the Gallery. This option is on the left side of the Gallery, and you just check the box.
All your downloaded Sims will appear in your library, and you can add them to your game!
Option # 2 – Installation Via CC Manager
If you are uncomfortable moving files around, I suggest the CC Manager, which you can access with a TSR VIP Subscription. All you have to do is install CC Manager and click the Install With CC Manager option on the Sim or item you wish to install.
You can install Sims or CC items in your Basket with CC Manager. Once you have everything you would like or your Basket is full, you simply click your Basket and then hit Install inside the Basket.
Once you have these steps and CC Manager is done installing your items, you can proceed to your game and make sure your CC is enabled in your game and Gallery using the same steps from above in Finding Your Sim In Your Game.
Required CC
If an artist has used CC in their Sim featured on TSR, they will list the required items in the required download tab. For the Sim to look exactly as the artist has pictured, you need to have all the CC downloaded that the artist has listed in the requirements. The artist will also list any packs or kits installed in case they use those items. If you don’t have that pack or kit, it will not show up in your game, and you will just need to replace the item.
Off TSR Required CC
If the artist used CC not hosted on TSR, there will be an icon with a page and an arrow next to the item listing. You can download that if you wish for your Sim to have that item. Off-site items are not checked by TSR staff, but our artists are selective of what off-site CC they use, and there is not generally that much off-site CC used as we have a ton of CC right here.
Perks of Using TSR
Of course, you can get Sims from many sites and creators, but there are perks for downloading Sims at The Sims Resource. The biggest perk is that ALL Sims are checked by our submission team to make sure they have everything they need with them BEFORE you download them. Another perk is that the required items are listed ALL right with the Sim on the download page. And… if you are a VIP Subscriber, they download in the zip or get installed with the CC Manager all together without you having to click every single one.
Sims Ready For Download
Do I really only get to pick ten of these thousands of lovely Sims to feature??? There are so many Sims that you can download and install into your game here at TSR. When I say thousands, I mean THOUSANDS. While working on this blog, over three thousand six hundred Sims can be downloaded RIGHT now on TSR!
So, how did I pick just ten to feature? I absolutely have no idea, lol, kidding. I went with different featured and selected artists and different-looking Sims recently uploaded. And, of course, the top Sim downloaded for 2024 (as of now)… will be shown last!
