Room Reno #41: Greek Inspired Bedroom

Welcome back to Room Reno #41 here at The Sims Resource! Today we’re helping a teenage girl who wants a bedroom inspired by a trip to Greece. Let’s meet her!

Meet Marcy and Adelaine!

Marcy and her daughter Adelaine recently moved to Willow Creek, and Adelaine wants a whole new bedroom aesthetic in their new home. Given she aged into a teenager right before their move, her mother has agreed that she can redo her room for her teenage years. Adelaine went on a trip to Greece with her class last year and wants her room to reflect all of her favorite parts of the Greek buildings and architecture she saw. Let’s see what we’re working with!

The Before

As you can see, this bedroom is…pretty dark and gloomy, as it is. One of the first steps to fixing this is obviously to add overhead lighting and remove the curtains to open up the space a bit more. Otherwise, there’s a lot of potential in this room–it has a lot of space, and the high walls mean that there’s plenty of room for wall decorations. My one concern is the other side of the taller wall heights in the game–they can make rooms feel imposing or empty, so I’ll have to be strategic with the wallpapers I choose so I don’t run into that issue. Let’s get planning!

The Planning

The focal point of this room is probably the bed, which I decided to place where the original bed also was–it’s a good spot relative to both windows. I decided to include space for a day bed because Adelaine has a cousin who comes to stay fairly often, and instead of having to share I wanted both of them to have their own spots. A dresser will fit next to the bed, and a desk can go next to the day bed. This layout makes the room seem a little simple, but don’t worry–it’ll really come to life with the decor. Let’s get building!

The After

This room has so much light and airy energy! The bright blue accent wall makes the space feel like it belongs near the sea. The daybed fits perfectly across from the main bed, meaning that Adelaine can use it as a spot to relax when she’s not hosting her cousin. The various tourism posters I found on TSR really bring some color to the room and make it feel warm and inviting even with all the cool tones and whites that are used throughout the room. I really love how this space turned out, and if you want any of the amazing CC I used, you can find it on the table below:
