Welcome back to Room Reno #52 here at The Sims Resource! Today we’re helping a family who wants a totally retro guest bedroom. Let’s meet them!
Meet the Hayes!
The Hayes family love living in Brindleton Bay and frequently invite their extended relatives to come visit! The spare room in their house would make a perfect guest bedroom, but they weren’t sure what kind of look they wanted try for their guests. They decided upon an eclectic retro theme, which will let them use old collectibles from their attic to help make the space custom for them. Their main color scheme is orange and teal with other pops of color as well. Let’s see what we’re working with!
The Before
This is a really tiny space, but there’s absolutely enough room for a full guest bedroom. The windows are going to be raised up a bit to make more space for the furniture, and the walls are definitely going to be painted to make the space feel less boring. I want to fit a queen sized bed in this room even though it’s smaller so that more guests can come to stay, so I’ll have to plan around that when I lay out the room.
The Planning
This is a really tiny space, so the planning was pretty simple. The bed is taking up most of the space on the left side of the room, and there will be a bedside table next to the door. A dresser will sit along the top wall with some more retro collectibles, and a record player and vintage chair will go along the right wall. A rug will tie the room together (much like in The Big Lebowski) and make it feel complete. Let’s get building!
The After
I adore how this little spare room turned out! One of my favorite details is the comic book mirror, which ties into both the color scheme and the theme of the space. The retro bed from the Get Famous pack is also one of my favorite items that I don’t get to use a lot. The retro theming doesn’t work well in every room, but in this space it’s perfect. The posters are a great touch, too, and help tie the room together.
