Welcome back to Room Reno #28 here at The Sims Resource! Today we’re helping a teenager create her dream bedroom inspired by the Y2K aesthetic. Let’s meet her!
Meet Annabelle!
Annabelle and her parents recently moved to Windenburg from Oasis Springs, and in exchange for the big move they told her that she could decorate her new bedroom in whatever style she wants. Annabelle has been obsessing over the Y2K aesthetic taking over the internet and told them that she wanted it to be the theme of her room. Confused as any parent would be over this request, they came to the master room renovator. Unfortunately, they were busy, so they came here instead ;). Let’s see what we’re working with!
The Before
This room is very…dark. One of the first things I plan on doing once I start building is to add at least two more windows to the room so that the space has some natural light and doesn’t feel so dark and sad. The windows are not the only things that need changing, though. The concrete flooring is cold and unwelcoming, and the walls are very tall and bleak with their current color. With some better lighting and some fresh floors, this room will have a lot of potential! Let’s get into planning!
The Planning
When it came to planning, I knew that I wanted to divide the room into four main areas. The bed area will go in between the two big windows on the left side of the room along with side tables and an easel for Annabelle’s painting hobby. A desk will go along the top wall, with space for a computer, some organization, and some art. I wanted to include a small TV area for Annabelle in order to really increase the Y2K vibes–almost every dream bedroom I had during that time period had a super cool TV area, and Annabelle deserves one too! Let’s get building.
The After
This is a bedroom I would absolutely take in a heartbeat. From the colorful brick walls to the bright and exciting color scheme, Annabelle has truly gotten a super cool room. I really love the TV area, which seems like a great space to kick back and relax. I also love being able to display some of Annabelle’s canvases around the room as well and show off her incredible art skills as part of the decor. Want to check out the CC I used in this build?
