Room Reno #37: Steampunk’d Collab

Welcome back to Room Reno #37 here at The Sims Resource! Today we’re helping a Sim who wants a new bedroom and office using the upcoming Steampunk’d Collab here at The Sims Resource! Let’s meet her.

Meet Amelia!

Amelia is a Sim living in a world of gears, gold, and steam–or steampunk, for those unaware! She recently inherited an old house from her grandmother, and needs to make some renovations before she can move in. The main renovation she needs is her bedroom and office; she needs somewhere she can work on her steam-powered creations as well as catch some z’s when she has the time. She wants the room to fully fit the steampunk aesthetic, with pipes, gears, and lots of metallic accents. Let’s see what we’re working with!

The Before

So. This room is…drab. It has a really funky shape, though, which will be fun to work with–the angled walls on the left side of the room will make for an amazing study space for Amelia. With a change in the wallpaper and the addition of some steampunk details, this room will be perfect for all of Amelia’s practical (and aesthetic) needs. With all that in mind, let’s start planning!

The Planning

As soon as I saw this space, I knew I wanted the desk to go in between the angled windows on the far wall–it will allow natural light in at different times of day and also let Amelia set up different types of equipment. I put the bed on the other side of the room so that there would be a bit more of a work/life separation for Amelia when she’s not busy at her building. I originally wanted a chaise lounge in the study area, but after placing it I realized it didn’t quite work with the rest of the room, so I placed a rocket building kit there for Amelia to use instead. Let’s see how the room turned out!

The After

Oh my god…this room turned out so COOL! I know that I’m biased since I did the furnishings, but I really have to shoutout all of the amazing artists here at TSR who created the build objects for this collab–this room would not be as stunningly awesome without their work! The desk area might be my favorite spot in the whole room, especially the telescope, perfectly set up so Amelia can watch the skies every night. If you want any of these incredible objects, keep your eyes peeled–they’ll be on TSR very soon!
