Room Reno #35: Tiny Library

Welcome back to Room Reno #35 here at The Sims Resource! Today we’re helping a Sim who wants to make her house a little more bookish. Let’s meet her!

Meet Leila!

Leila is a librarian Sim who recently came into a bit of money and wants to take her love of books to the next level by building a tiny library in her home! While the weather in Oasis Springs isn’t the most conducive to warm and cozy areas, Leila wants a traditional library aesthetic, with wood paneled walls, floor to ceiling shelves, and a comfy armchair to curl up in. Let’s see what we’re working with!

The Before

This is space in Leila’s living room that she wants to turn into the tiny library. It’s not a big space, but that’s the whole point of a tiny library. The area isn’t used for much other than a plant display right now, but it has a lot of potential. Since there won’t be a lot of floor space, using the walls and ceiling for extra decor to spruce the space up is going to be essential for creating a homey and complete feeling in such a tiny space. Let’s get planning!

The Planning

I want there to be wall-to-wall bookshelves along the far left wall of the space to start with. (Wall-to-wall in this case refers more to “a few tall shelves” instead of a full wall of custom fixtures, which keeps costs down). The cozy armchair will go in the back corner, allowing a cozy vantage point, books, and plants. Finally, a side table can hold extra books along with some houseplants that Leila wants to move into the space. There’s going to be shelving and art on the walls to add space and color as well.

The After

This build makes me want to build even more tiny rooms in the future! There’s something so dainty and quaint about this tiny library that I really love, especially with the paneled walls and matching bookcases and wood fixtures. I really love the plant pot that’s shaped like books–it’s adorable and fits the rest of the room so well. The funky-shaped wall shelves help break up all the rectangles and squares of the space while still matching all the other wood tones. Want to find all the CC used in the room?
