The Sims 4 June Update Finally Cuts Down on Phone Call Spam

Sims 4 June 23 Laundry List

Sul sul, Simmers! Today, Electronic Arts released the Laundry List for the upcoming June 30th update! This update will fix over 10 of the most-voted issues. Let’s dive into it!

Fixes for the Most Voted Issues

First up, windows and doors will now display properly and remain aligned with the walls, no matter the graphics settings. This means no more clipping or glitching into walls! All you builders can breathe a sigh of relief at this! Next on the list is an issue with partnered Sims leaving Create A Sim with an unexpected relationship! While this is not retroactive in saves where the relationship has already changed, it is retroactive in older saves where the change hasn’t occurred yet.

An issue where the game would become stuck on the thumbnail UI when clicking on a Gallery item after changing filters is expected to be fixed! And on the topic of Gallery fixes, there are two more in store for players! No longer will the game soft-lock when attempting to download a Custom Tattoo from the Gallery. Endless loading when trying to place certain lots is also being looked into. The issue was occurring because these lots were overusing placement cheats, which were corrupting their footprints. EA has adjusted how Navmeshes behave to stop this issue from occurring.

We’re not done yet, though! Sims performing Mean interactions have been investigated. The issue was being caused by the Vicious Dynasty Ideal from Royalty & Legacy. Sims with the Vicious Dynasty Ideal will no longer run Mean interactions autonomously. Another error from Royalty & Legacy is being patched. The issue occurred when Child Sims would automatically be added to a Dynasty, and players would repeatedly receive the “Joined Dynasty” notification when entering or leaving Create A Sim.

Several more glitches and bugs have been looked into, such as a bug from Get to Work where Doctors wouldn’t perform interactions with their Patients, and an issue from Cats & Dogs where Sims were prevented from adopting Cats and Dogs. Sims will now be able to properly perform the Feel the Love interaction on cats and small dogs. And now, when bathing small dogs, no issues will arise. Lastly, Sims are now able to complete the Hair and Makeup task on an Actor Career gig once again.

Improvements for Live Mode Notifications and Phone Calls

The Sims Team has attempted to make everyday gameplay feel smoother, more intentional, and less overwhelming by reducing repetitive phone calls, festival and phone notifications, and more.

Now, under Game Options, you can toggle notifications for festivals on or off! This is on a pack-by-pack basis. Also, the Silence Phone button will now properly prevent all phone calls. Before the investigation, some calls were still slipping through the cracks.

Notifications will now make more sense for story purposes! No longer will acquaintances call you for love advice, or any other advice, for that matter. From now on, only friends will call your Sims for advice. Sims will need to be friendly to invite you to festivals, as well.

Stay overs are also receiving an update. They may occur any time after fourteen days have passed since the initial phone call. Sims actively on your lot will also no longer call to ask you about adult Sims’ childhood for Formative Moments.

In addition to the phone call update, Grim is now a lot pickier about who he hires. He will no longer call any old Sim to hire them. He will now only hire Sims if they have the Macabre trait.

Less Spam

Gone are the days of repetitive phone calls! No longer will you be bugged about Earbuds. They are still available for purchase, but the game will no longer remind your Sims. Invites from other Sims will also receive a patch. Bar Night invites from other Sims will be less frequent if you own the Get Together pack. Lots of other fixes are expected to come, making gameplay smoother and Sims less intrusive.

Notifications and reminders from packs like High School Years and Lovestruck will also be less frequent! Sims will not receive as many calls. The Discovery Quest for Starting a Dynasty will now only occur once per save. In general, players will get far fewer invites from other Sims.

General Bug Fixes

Alongside the improvements for Live Mode notifications, the update will address over 50 highly voted community issues across the Base Game and packs. Stacked items, Photos, and Paintings will no longer become stuck to the cursor when attempting to move them to a Sim’s inventory. A series of fixes will be released for duplicated Sim issues. A fix for Sims doing limited romantic interactions will be released as well.

Base Layer assets will also improve in quality, as the Sims Team has made improvements to various assets. The patch notes on June 30th will list all the fixes individually.

And there you have it, players! That’s all for today’s Laundry List. Look below to find the direct quote from the Sims Team.

Hi Simmers!

Welcome to the Laundry List, where we share the top community concerns that we’re currently investigating and plan to resolve. This update includes over 10 fixes for the most-voted issues on the EA Forums, improvements to Live Mode notifications and phone calls, a move of scratch files to AppData for Mac users, and addresses a variety of other bugs and issues reported by the community.

Want to learn more about some of these improvements? Join us on June 23 for a special Dev Q&A in The Sims Discord, where members of the development team will answer your questions and discuss upcoming quality-of-life updates focused on our improvements for Live Mode notifications, including the new toggle options for Festivals.

The Sims Team

Here’s the list of the top community concerns we’ve addressed for our next update:

Fixes for Most Voted Issues:

  • [EA Forums] Windows and doors now display correctly and remain properly aligned with the walls across all graphics settings (Low, Medium, and High), without clipping or glitching into the walls. If occurring during Low Settings load, please follow the prompt and restart your game to see the update.
  • [EA Forums] We fixed an issue where partnered Sims could form an unexpected relationship upon leaving Create a Sim. This fix isn’t retroactive in Saves where the relationship change already occurred, but it is retroactive in old saves where the relationship change hasn’t yet occurred. Note: There is still another cause of this behavior that we’re still investigating.
  • [EA Forums] We addressed an issue where the game could become stuck on the thumbnail UI when a user clicks on a gallery item after changing the filters.
  • [EA Forums] The game will no longer soft lock when attempting to download a Custom Tattoo from the Gallery.
  • [EA Forums] We fixed an instance of endless loading (save corruption) that could occur when trying to place certain lots from the Gallery. This was happening because these lots had an overuse of placement cheats that were corrupting the lots’ footprints. We adjusted how Navmeshes behave to account for these instances.
  • [EA Forums] A top community concern around “Sims performing Mean interactions” was investigated. We found while this was previously happening, these were old bugs that we’d previously addressed in past patches. When we investigated new reports and player saves we found this was being caused by the “Vicious Dynasty Ideal” from Royalty & Legacy and was by design. We wanted to address this feedback however, so Sims with the Vicious Dynasty Ideal will no longer autonomously run Mean interactions. They will still get Prestige Points when a player manually runs Mean socials.
  • [EA Forums] We fixed an issue where Child Sims could be automatically added to a Dynasty, and players would receive the “Joined Dynasty” notification on repeat when entering or leaving Create a Sim. (Legacy & Royalty)
  • [EA Forums] [EA Forums] Fixed an issue where Doctors couldn’t perform interactions with their Patients or use the “Deliver Food” interaction. (Get to Work)
  • [EA Forums] Fixed an issue that was preventing Sims from adopting Cats and Dogs. (Cats & Dogs)
  • [EA Forums] Fixed an issue that was preventing Sims from performing the “Feel the Love” interaction properly on a cat or small dog. (Cats & Dogs)
  • [EA Forums] Fixed an issue that prevented Sims from bathing small Dogs. (Cats & Dogs)
  • [EA Forums] Sims are once again able to complete the Hair and Makeup task on an Actor Career gig. (Get Famous)

Improvements for Live Mode TNS Notifications & Phone Calls

We’ve taken a thoughtful pass at Live Mode notifications to make everyday gameplay feel smoother, more intentional, and less overwhelming. By reducing repetitive phone calls, giving you greater control over festival and phone notifications, and adding meaningful story context to who calls and why we aim to cut down on spam and keep immersion front and center.

Control Over Notifications

  • We’ve added a Festival Notifications section to the Game Options menu that will allow players to determine which Festivals they receive notifications for on a pack by pack basis. (Multiple Packs)

  • The “Silence Phone” button should now properly prevent all phone calls. There were some that were slipping through. (Base Game)

Notifications Make More Sense for Story

  • Gone are the days where Sims would call for dating advice when they barely knew you! Now, only Friends will do this. (Base Game)
    • Actually… Why not do this for all Neighborhood Stories? All Neighborhood Stories phone calls will now require your Sims to be at least friends before they reach out. (Base Game)
  • [EA Forums] Sims in the Freelancer Career will no longer receive Gig calls and pop ups from careers they are not in. (Base Game)
  • Sims should now need to be Friendly before they call to invite your Sims to a Festival or Getaway, adding story context to these calls. (Multiple)
  • [EA Forums] Stay Over calls can now happen multiple times. They may occur any time after fourteen days have passed since the initial call. This fix is retroactive in old saves. (Growing Together)
  • Sims that are actively present on the lot will no longer call to ask about your adult Sim’s childhood for the Formative Moments feature. It was a little weird. How were they even doing that?! (Adventure Awaits)
  • Good O’l Grim is a little pickier on who he’ll try to recruit now. He’s the Grim Reaper after all – he has options! He’ll only call Sims to offer a job if they are Macabre. (Life & Death)

Less Spam

  • [EA Forums] Hey, we heard you just became friends with… JUST KIDDING. We’ve removed some repetitive phone calls in Live Mode based on feedback from Reddit, Discord, and the EA Forums. Players will no longer receive the following phone calls:
    • Hey, I heard you became friends with {0.SimName}! {M0.He}{F0.She}’s pretty cool! (Get Together)
    • Hey, I heard you became enemies with {0.SimName}. That {M0.guy}{F0.girl} is a jerk! (Get Together)
    • Hey, I heard you and {0.SimName} are good friends now. You’re getting more popular – clearly you’re a good person to know! (Get Famous)
  • Do you want Earbuds? Great! They are still available for purchase from the computer. We will, however, no longer be reminding you about them.
  • We’ve decreased how frequently players will get dancing and Bar Night invites from other Sims. (Get Together)
  • Bess Sterling will not call as quickly or as frequently anymore. However, once she does call – if you accept, you are still at her mercy. Good luck. (Eco Lifestyle)
  • We’ve decreased how frequently players will get Community Closeness Calls. (Eco Lifestyle)
  • We’ve removed the “Come check out ThrifTea!” TNS notification reminder. (High School Years)
  • We’ve decreased how frequently players will get romance-related phone calls. (Lovestruck)
  • The Discovery Quest for “Starting a Dynasty” should only occur once per save now. (Legacy & Royalty)
  • In general, we’ve decreased how frequently players will get invites from other Sims. (Multiple Packs)

Scratch Files Move to App Data for Mac Users

As part of our investigation into Save Corruption, following our March 10 update, we moved Scratch files from Documents to AppData for PC players to prevent conflicts with cloud backup services. Since the rollout has completed, we have observed improvements in Infinite Load occurrences. For this June update, we’re making those same changes for Mac users.

General Bug Fixes

Alongside our improvements for Live Mode notifications, this update will address 50+ highly voted community issues across the Base Game and packs. Key fixes include:

  • [EA Forums] Stacked items, Photos and Paintings become stuck to the cursor when attempting to move them to the Sim’s inventory.
  • [EA Forums] A series of fixes for duplicated Sim issues.
  • [EA Forums] A fix for Sims doing limited romantic interactions.
  • [EA Forums] We’ve also made improvements to various Base Layer assets to improve quality.

The patch notes on June 30th will list all the fixes out individually, plus we’ll update the individual EA Forum threads too!
