The Sims 4 Console Bug Is Making the Game Unplayable for Players – EA Is Investigating

Sims 4 console bug

A serious Sims 4 console bug is making the game almost impossible to play for some Xbox and PlayStation users.

Players say their controls suddenly stop responding during Live Mode. Interaction menus can open, but the game then refuses to accept button presses.

Some players report getting only a few minutes of gameplay before it happens.

EA has now moved the issue from “Verified” to “Under Investigation”.

That status change is important. It means Maxis developers are now actively working on the problem.

What Is the Sims 4 Console Bug?

The main EA Forums report covers Xbox and PlayStation versions of The Sims 4.

Players say they can move through an interaction menu with the analogue stick. However, they suddenly lose the ability to select anything.

The problem can also block other controls.

Some players say they cannot close the menu, pause the game or even open the save screen.

That leaves them with one option: completely restart The Sims 4.

The report currently has almost 300 comments and more than 140 player reactions.

Some Players Only Get a Few Minutes Before It Breaks

The reports show how severe the problem can become.

One PS5 player says every save becomes unplayable after only one or two minutes.

They tried restarting more than ten times. They also cleared the console cache and completely reinstalled the game.

The problem still returned.

Because console versions of The Sims 4 do not support PC-style script Mods or CC, affected PlayStation and Xbox players also cannot simply blame a broken Mod.

Other users report similar behaviour across different saves.

Some say the issue disappears temporarily after restarting the game, only to return later.

EA Has Upgraded the Bug to “Under Investigation”

This is the biggest development.

The EA Forums previously listed the problem as Verified.

EA uses that status when Maxis QA has successfully reproduced a bug and confirmed that it is real.

The report has now moved to Under Investigation.

According to EA’s own bug-status guide, that means Maxis’ development team is actively working on the issue.

The next stages would include Validating Fix if Maxis develops a solution, followed by Upcoming Fix once it passes internal testing.

We are not at those stages yet.

However, the move to Under Investigation confirms that the problem has progressed beyond simply collecting reports.

The Problem Appeared After Console Patch 2.37

EA’s bug thread specifically labels the issue as affecting Patch 2.37.

That console version arrived with the August update.

The update introduced changes to AutoSave, Marketplace and other areas of the game.

EA has not publicly confirmed exactly what causes the control problem.

So, we cannot say one particular feature from Patch 2.37 is responsible.

Players have discussed possible workarounds, including playing offline. However, there does not appear to be a reliable fix for everyone.

When Will EA Fix It?

EA has not announced a fix date yet.

The status change does at least tell us that Maxis developers are now working on it.

For affected players, that probably cannot come quickly enough.

A minor visual bug is frustrating. A bug that stops players from controlling their Sims is another matter entirely.

The Sims 4 console bug can effectively end a play session within minutes for some users.

We will now have to watch the EA Forums status closely.

If it moves from Under Investigation to Validating Fix, that will be our first sign that a solution may finally be on the way.
