Room Reno #46: Nature Nursery

Welcome back to Room Reno #46 here at The Sims Resource! Today we’re helping a family who wants a nature-inspired bedroom for their toddler! Let’s meet them.

Meet the Martins!

Anna and Christopher Martin had their daughter Presley a few years back, and recently moved to a new home in Oasis Springs with more room for their growing family. They love the modern style of the Oasis Springs houses, but when it came to Presley’s room, they were looking for something more natural and cozy rather than cold and industrial. A nature inspired nursery was in the cards for Presley, full of life and super-cute animal toys to make it special. Let’s see what we’re working with!

The Before

This bedroom is certainly…dark. It was likely used for an angsty teenager, or a pair of them, looking at the double beds. The first thing this room needs is a fresh coat of paint–it’s way too dark in here for a toddler’s room, and while this room is actually a pretty good size the dark walls make it feel much smaller. The windows are good, but I think I want to add an extra one along one of the walls to increase the amount of natural light in the space to take advantage of the famous Oasis Springs sun. Let’s get planning!

The Planning

This room may look small, but it has a lot of space for the essentials! The toddler bed was the first thing I put down, with a tiny bedside table for any essentials Presley might need. A changing table and bookshelf, complete with baskets for clothes and toys, go along the opposite corner. A high chair and rocking chair finish off the corner next to the bed, so that Presley’s parents can watch over her or help feed her while having a nice comfy seat. With all that out of the way, let’s get building!

The After

This room turned out so bright, airy, and natural! I love looking at all the greens and browns contrasted with the bright white walls. The mural wall was a last minute addition, but I really liked what it added to the room. It’s simple enough that Presley can keep it for years to come, even if she decides to ditch the nature theme as she gets older. The toddler swing is one of my other favorite parts of the room–it’s just so cute, and I’m sure Presley can’t wait to use it!
