Welcome back to Room Reno #42 here at The Sims Resource! Today we’re helping a woman who wants a pastel, but still professional office. Let’s meet her!
Meet Faye!
Faye is a fashion writer and designer who works from home in Willow Creek. After a recent move, she finally has a dedicated office space to use for her writing, and she knows exactly what she wants. Faye loves pastels–and she knows that they can be professional, too! Her office should be a perfect blend of cute and bright, with many clean lines and simplistic furniture pieces to help marry the color palette with the professional aesthetic she wants.
The Before
This room has a lot of potential for an office space! For one, it’s not too big–having enough space, but not too much, is really important in designing a room that has all the essential parts of an office without feeling too empty, or on the other hand, overcrowded. The windows should bring in just enough natural light to brighten up the space without overwhelming it as a smaller room. The medium-height walls mean there’s plenty of opportunity for wall hangings without being too tall. Let’s get planning!
The Planning
While this layout seems pretty simplistic, I think it should work out really well for the practical purposes of the room. A desk, to write at, and two bookshelves will go along the left wall, surrounding the middle window. A clothing rack can go on the opposite wall, creating a super-cute video call background (and storage space!). A standing mirror and a mannequin for outfit experimenting complete the room. Let’s get building this pastel office!
The After
This office feels completely transformed from where it started. The new walls–half brick, half paint–make the room feel bigger and taller. The matching, art-deco bookshelves bring a bit of 1920s flair to the room next to the more modern desk as an interesting contrast. The metal mannequin is one of my favorite pieces of furniture in the room. It looks great as a decorative piece on its own or when used to style outfits. This office is pastel, professional, and pretty–all the p’s I wanted when I started!
