Room Reno #33: Holiday Wedding Venue

Welcome back to Room Reno #33 here at The Sims Resource! Today we’re helping a couple who can’t wait to have their dream winter wedding. Let’s meet them!

Meet Natalie and Ross!

Natalie and Ross are having their dream wedding in their shared hometown of Newcrest. There’s just one problem–there’s no venue prepared to throw the winter wedding they’re both looking for! Natalie wants a snowy outdoor space for her to walk down the aisle (complete for seating for both of their huge families). Ross wants a cozy, lodge-like space for the reception, which should hopefully be nice and warm in comparison to the chilly outdoor ceremony. Let’s see the space they want to celebrate in!

The Before

This is a 30×20 lot, so there’s a decent amount of space to work with while still allowing the venue to be nice and cozy for the indoor reception space. When building, I’ll likely divide the space roughly in two between the two parts of the couple and their respective needs for the party, with the altar and aisle at the front of the lot, outdoors, and the reception building near the back of the lot. Lots of wintery landscaping will also help to create the dreamy winter aesthetic as well. Let’s get planning!

The Planning

As I mentioned before, I’ve decided to divide the lot in half between the two halves of the party. I’m particularly excited about using the reception building as a backdrop for the altar–with the nature surrounded aisle, an architecture backed altar will be a great balancing factor in the decor. The reception building will be in the style of a winter lodge but miniature in scale. Let’s get building!

The After

When I started this build, I expected to have the most fun with the exterior half of the lot–the altar and seating area–but I actually had even more fun while I was designing the inside of the reception area. Making a warm and cozy lodge has been on my mind a lot recently (it’s the season!) and I think making a party space in one was a ton of fun! The exterior is also just gorgeous–if it weren’t freezing, I’d want to get married out there too. Want to download any of the CC from this build? It’s all linked in the table below!
