Room Reno #22: Autumn Yard

Welcome back to Room Reno #22 here at The Sims Resource! Today we’re helping a family who needs a brand new yard for the fall season. Let’s meet them!

Meet the Davis family!

The Davis family is made up of Tom, Mark, and their twin children, Ava and Anthony. Oh, and their Great Dane Marmaduke! The family have lived in Brindleton Bay for a few years now, but are at a loss when it comes to what to do with their yard, which is located next to the house instead of behind it. Mark and Tom would love a patio space for entertaining, and the kids want a play area to spend time in. Mark also loves gardening and would love an area to grow his veggies in. Let’s see what we’re working with!

The Before

The Davis’ yard isn’t huge, but it isn’t tiny either. It’s much longer than it is wide, though it definitely has enough space to give the whole family what they’re looking for. One of the first things I thought of when I saw this space was adding a fence–since the yard is next to the house instead of behind it, it lends a sense of privacy to the area that wouldn’t otherwise be there. Once I scoped out the yard, it was time to start planning!

The Planning

For the yard, I decided I wanted three main areas with a path connecting them. First, a patio area for Mark and Tom near the yard’s entrance, to make it easier to bring food and snacks outside. Then, Mark’s gardening area, in a part of the yard that gets a lot of sun and isn’t too far back so he won’t have to carry his tools too far every day. Finally, I put the kids’ play area in the very back of the yard, so they would have some privacy away from the grown-ups to let their imaginations run wild. Let’s get building!

The After

The fall vibes off this yard are IMMACULATE! From the mushroom stools for the kids to the blankets and fire pit, I adore how this yard managed to fit everything the family wanted in while also sticking to the warm fall color scheme I thought of. In particular, I love the path made of leaf piles, which brings the color scheme all around the yard, as well as the lanterns hanging over the patio area. This yard makes me want to go get a latte and sit around the fire making s’mores…maybe I should go buy some marshmallows and chocolate! You can find all the items I used in this renovation below:
