Welcome back to Room Reno #19 here at The Sims Resource! Today we’re helping a young couple expecting their first child. Let’s meet them!
Meet Claire and Carson!
Claire and Carson Buckley are ecstatic to be expecting their first child in just a few months! They have a spare room in their house picked out for the baby, but there’s just one problem: Claire has no clue how to design a room, and Carson is so busy with his job as a wildlife vet that he doesn’t have time to work on it! It’s up to the room reno team (me. the team is me) to give them the nursery of their dreams. Let’s see what we’re working with!
The Before
The room that Claire and Carson picked out is a little wider than it is long and features one huge window on the wall opposite the door. The window and door are both in the tudor style, which the rest of the house features as well. In order to blend the tudor and jungle-inspired styles, I’ll have to use some wood shades and decor items that help marry the two together. Let’s get into the planning!
The Planning
Since the room is pretty small, I wanted to make sure that there would be enough space for all the main pieces I wanted. First, a crib–I wanted a large wooden crib to act as the centerpiece of the space and really draw focus, so I placed it under the window. I also knew Claire wanted the baby to have a play mat for tummy time, so I made sure to allot some extra space on the opposite wall for that. Finally, I decided to put a bookshelf and dresser on the two side walls to complete all the large additions to the room. Let’s get building!
The After
This nursery turned out SO CUTE! While I’ve done more generic nursery builds in the past, having a really strong theme for one was a bit of a challenge but turned out to be one of my all-time favorite room renos. The play mat on the floor is just adorable and I love how the leaf shape matches the room’s theme, as well as the jungle-themed crib and blankets. I made sure to place a rocking chair for Claire and Carson to use while they get snuggle time with their little bundle of joy too <3.
