In October 2024, Electronic Arts released the Life and Death Expansion Pack. Many features, such as the Rebirth feature, quickly became fan favorites. However, with June’s latest patch, it appears the Rebirth feature has become broken for several players. Found on r/Sims4 and posted by Harley4L, the Reddit user shares that the Rebirth feature no longer works for them, and they are not alone. At least 10 other people have reported having the same issue over on the EA Forums. If you are also experiencing the rebirth bug, please report it to the EA Forum link.
Players are experiencing a glitch that prevents rebirthed Sims from being added to existing households. The game will open Create a Sim, but shows an existing Sim with the Rebirth icon instead of the ghost being reborn. And when attempting to exit Create a Sim, it cancels the rebirth process entirely, sending players back to Manage Worlds. Or it will send the player to the household selection screen with the wrong Sim flagged for rebirth. It appears that rebirth only works when choosing an empty household, where the rebirthed Sim appears correctly as an infant. And ghosts attempting to be reborn simply disappear!
This issue arises with or without the usage of mods, across multiple saves and households, and appears to occur 100% of the time for many users. Players who depend on the feature are understandably frustrated with the rebirth bug. Saying they bought the pack mainly for Rebirth and now can’t use it. So far, Electronic Arts hasn’t acknowledged that the pack’s main feature is broken. With enough votes on the EA Forum link provided, they may fix it soon. Dag Dag!
