Greetings Simmers! I hope the day finds you well and you are ready to download some amazing CC! Today we are going to be looking at trending Homecoming looks or ‘Hoco’ looks. This is a seasonal trend here in the States in the fall for many teenagers as… its that time of the year! And yes… I was today years old when I realized Hoco = Homecoming. Short dresses are yet again one of the biggest trends for Hoco dresses (Homecoming dresses). So we are going to make a couple Sims and see what we can come up with for your trending look!
What Is Homecoming???
Some of you might be thinking Jezi… Jezi… what are you talking about. Right. Homecoming is probably an American thing as we celebrate just about everything including thanksgiving to doughnuts. According to nationalcalendar.com September has 630 identified celebrations and holidays. Apparently, we like to party? Regardless of all that mess… Homecoming is a school dance. Generally speaking, Homecoming is a high school dance but is open to all four or three grade levels (depending on how the school is structured). It is not uncommon for Homecomings to be a middle school thing as well.
So back in my day… (yes we are going there) Homecoming looks were much less formal. Things have escalated to bigger, better, brighter, fancier by far on the Homecoming style front. When I was that age of school dances, Homecoming was a more casual dance. So casual that some participants wore business casual light outfits. Of course me… being me… I would fit in now with the crowd. Go big or go home!
The Homecoming events generally revolve around a football game and other activities like pep rallies, Homecoming court voting, and blah blah blah… (lol) you get the picture. So although I went to the dances I did not really like to the whole week of events. So the actual ‘dance’ has music, announcing of the Homecoming King & Queen, snacks, and all that jazz kinda like a mini prom.

Alright so we are going to jump into these lovely Homecoming looks I have designed! And as always I did my research via Google and Pinterest, so we cannot go wrong! (We totally can.) Regardless I am happy with how everything turned out, aside from the Sim in the red dress I forgot to check her for arm hair… *rolls eyes. I literally was processing my images and saw that and was like !!!!! WHY! WHY! But then at the same time like oh well girl got hairy arms. We are just going to keep rolling with this. But also me… I am sitting here right now making faces at my image, wishing I would have checked her in Create A Sim. LOL
Makeup
I have been learning things in my blogging journey. And one thing I have learned is that the same makeup CC can look so different on different skin tones and face shapes. So each of the feminine looks used the same makeup CC on each Sim. Some of these Sims have a more Alpha CC look while others are more a Mix, but all four lovely ladies have the SAME Makeup CC on them. And they are all randomly generated Sims dressed up… I give you THE POWER OF CC!!

Makeup for Homecoming looks appears to follow the general makeup trends that we are currently seeing. I focused on the very moisturized toned lip gloss and thick smokey eyes. The one trend I have also been practicing myself is the thick and elongated black liner reaching past the edge of the eye. I did notice that even with Sims this gives the illusion to expand the length of the eye and sharpens the smoky eyeliner look.
Hair
CCLink – Hairstyle
With this blog, I wanted to make sure we had a variety of hairstyles. Traditionally with dances, it is not uncommon for folks to book an appointment at the salon and get their hair and nails done. So keeping that in mind I tried to find hairstyles I thought looked like they were fresh out of the salon door for these Homecoming looks. I have a mix of long hairstyles and updos so plenty of CC links for you!
Accessories
CC Links – Hairstyle & Earrings
For accessories I kept everything pretty simple and clean, a couple dangly earrings and nice nails. This was for the reason of Homecoming is like a less formal prom so I did not want to go overboard with accessories. Accessory trends are also indicating more focus on lovely-looking nails, rather than over-accessorizing. Yes, I am serious here, with a couple pieces of accessories and beautiful nails… That is the accessory trend front at the present moment. Meanwhile, I am sitting here with my fourteen rings on and no nails. (I had to take my nails off *cries… there was an incident and I borked the heck out of two nails and I am not going with eight nails complete and the other two naked.)
Outfits

We are finally to the actual outfits! YEAAA! (And yes this is the arm hair sim. no, I did not let it go…) Ok so like I stated before Homecoming looks have evolved quite a bit since my experiences with all this. Shorter dresses or two-piece dresses are most definitely a big trend. The shorter dresses are nothing new to Homecoming looks, however… they are getting much much fancier! Frills, lace, sequins, anything to jazz up a plain color dress up. So this is literally turning into a ‘mini’ prom… being just shorter dresses.

Even the masculine styles for Homecoming have changed. They are much more formal, some even wear full-on tuxedos. Typically from my research and what I have seen most are now sporting a dress shirt, dress pants, and a jacket. Traditionally it used to be ok for nice khakis and a polo. Yeah… that was acceptable for a school dance. I actually had a guy try to pick me up dressed like that… and my fourteen-year-old self laughed in his face.

Me being me… I honestly like the fancier looks. and in a lot of areas when Homecoming comes around it is still warm enough to find really cute dresses without having to worry about too many layers. I also absolutely love this Sim’s look. This outfit is definitely my favorite out of the entire batch.
Shoes

There is one final factor to pulling off the perfect Homecoming look… SHOES. You can destroy an entire outfit with the wrong pair of shoes. (trust me I do it ALL the time. Halara dresses and Tevas. Don’t do it.) Anyways back to Homecoming… if it is not too cold yet and Homecoming is in early fall… this means… SANDALS! YEP, presto easy perfect shoe, nice strappy sandals and match the color of the dress or black sandals and poof perfect Homecoming look!
Summary
I hope you find some lovely Hoco dresses to complete your perfect Homecoming looks for your Sims! I had a lot of fun assembling these outfits and I am now tempted to create a prom event and host an actual ‘Homecoming’ in my gameplay! LOL
