The Sims 4: Big Things Are Coming
The Sims 4 is gearing up for some exciting changes, starting with a huge base game update set to drop on February 4th. Here’s what you can expect:
- New CAS Goodies: Overhaul your Sims’ wardrobes with all-new hairs, clothing, accessories, and shoes for adults and kids.
- Build Mode Refresh: Get creative with 70+ new items, including updated windows, doors, fresh finishes/swatches for kitchen cabinets, and more.
- Nostalgia Meets Birthdays: Celebrate with a brand-new birthday event! Complete in-game tasks to unlock throwback items like the iconic blow-up chair from The Sims 1. Who else feels like they’re back in the early 2000s?
- UI Redesign: Starting TODAY, the main menu gets a facelift! Your last Sim save will now take center stage on the menu screen—literally. Plus, new quality-of-life features like an Apply All button and an occult switcher will make gameplay smoother.
- Townie Home Updates: The team has been renovating some townie homes to make them cooler. We’re excited to see the glow-ups!
- Creator Kits Galore: Four powerhouse creators—Syboulette, Madlen, Piersim, and aharris00britney—are bringing fresh designs to the game.

Our Thoughts
This Behind The Sims episode delivered on all fronts—nostalgia, quality-of-life improvements, and fresh content to keep the community buzzing. That blow-up chair has us hyped for the birthday event, and the CAS and build mode updates will add even more customisation options for our Sims.
We did think we might have received more information on Behind the Sims today – perhaps a roadmap, a mention of future Expansion Packs, or just something more. However we have the livestream on 4th February to look forward to, and I bet there will be some exciting and fantastic news!
