EA’s Laundry List for Upcoming Game Update
Let’s Talk About the Upcoming Patch

The Sims team has officially kicked off 2025 with a brand-new Laundry List, giving us a sneak peek into the first patch of the year. While EA hasn’t confirmed an exact release date, speculation is swirling that this patch could drop as early as January 14th, so it’s time to prepare your games—and your mods.

What Is the Laundry List?

For those unfamiliar, the Laundry List is EA’s way of keeping the community in the loop about which bugs and issues are being addressed in upcoming updates. These aren’t comprehensive patch notes but rather a preview of fixes that have been prioritised based on player feedback. Think of it as a heads-up for the most reported concerns in the Sims community.

The list includes everything from quirky bugs—like Sims feeding fertilizer to toddlers—to long-standing issues affecting gameplay and pack-specific features. While not every concern is addressed in a single patch, this ongoing communication shows EA’s commitment to improving the game’s quality of life.

Highlights from the January Laundry List

Here are some of the standout fixes you can expect from this patch:

Base Game Fixes

Ridiculous Bills: Fixed cases where Lot Taxes included property value and items in inventories, leading to sky-high bills.

Shower Shenanigans: “Try for Baby” in the shower will finally satisfy the Hygiene motive.

Barefoot Styles: Styled Looks with barefoot options will now properly remove shoes.

Rainproof Neon Signs: Neon signs will no longer break due to rain.

Inventory Mishaps: Sims can no longer feed toddlers fertilizer from their inventory (thankfully).

Cross-Pack Fixes

Knitting Scouts: Knitting will now properly count toward the Arts & Crafts Scout badge.

Fitness Updates: Activities like bike riding, rock climbing, and horseback riding will properly affect Sims’ weight and muscle levels.

Retail Improvements: Items like the waffle maker, pizza oven, and stand mixer can now be sold in retail stores.

Pack-Specific Fixes

Cats & Dogs: Pets with the fire obsession perk will no longer be too obsessed with fireplaces.

High School Years: Sims won’t revert to ThrifTea-created outfits after showering or bathing.

Horse Ranch: The “Drink an Aged Nectar” Want will now fulfill correctly.

Eco Lifestyle: Roaches will actually disappear after being cleared from dumpsters.

Discover University: Gym Rat Sims won’t lose Hygiene while juggling soccer balls, and electrocution risks at the Robotics Workstation have been reduced.

What This Means for Mods

If you’re a mod user, this patch is likely to temporarily disable or break some of your favourite custom content. EA automatically disables mods after updates, so here’s how to stay ahead:

Disable Automatic Updates: Go offline in the EA app before the patch drops.

Open the app, click the three lines in the top-left corner, and select “Go Offline.”

Backup Your Saves: Always save a copy of your game files before updating.

Wait for Mod Updates: Don’t re-enable mods until creators confirm they’re compatible with the patch.

This is a critical step because playing with outdated mods can corrupt your save files or introduce new issues.

Is January 14th the Patch Day?

While many in the community speculate that January 14th is the likely release date for this patch, EA hasn’t officially confirmed it. The timing aligns with the Behind The Sims livestream scheduled for the same day, which might offer additional insight into the patch or other exciting announcements.

The Sims franchise is about to hit a major milestone: its 25th anniversary. Can you believe it? For those of us who grew up spending hours creating pixel-perfect families or, let’s be honest, finding “creative” ways to get rid of Sims we didn’t like, this milestone is a mix of nostalgia and disbelief. Whether you’re a longtime player or a recent fan, there’s no denying The Sims’ impact on gaming—and life simulation as a genre.

To celebrate, EA has announced a special Behind The Sims livestream on January 14th, 2025, at 9 AM PT. This promises to kick off the anniversary festivities with a closer look at what’s next for The Sims franchise. While we can’t be sure what surprises await, we have a few hints to keep us curious.

What to Expect in the Upcoming Behind The Sims

This isn’t just any Behind The Sims—it’s a 25th-anniversary special! Historically, these livestreams have had a mixed reception, so it’s fair to keep expectations balanced. Here’s what might be on the docket:

The Sims 4 Roadmap
EA is likely to unveil future DLC plans for The Sims 4. Fans are already speculating about the next expansion pack based on survey hints and teaser images (is that a crown?). Rumour has it that we’ll also hear about three new kits arriving this month.

Sims 4 Kits Review: Urban Homage Kit & Party Essentials Kit

Who wants to take a look at the new Sims 4 Kits! On April 18th The Urban Homage and Party Essentials Kits were released! The Urban Homage Kit includes some of Simmer Eboinx’s favorite fashion styles and the Party Essentials Kit… well it brings objects to your game to really throw a dazzling party! So let’s take a look at these new Sims 4 Kits and see what they come with!

The Urban Homage Kit

The Urban Homage Kit includes various styles from the 90s and early 2000s. This London-city living-inspired Kit comes with twenty-eight new pieces of Create A Sim, CAS content. This Kit covers the full range of CAS from tops, bottoms, accessories, and shoes.

My favorite piece from this Kit is a toss-up between the Butterfly top and the Overalls. Both were staple pieces of fashion for many of us during this time. Of course, I also love the nails and the crop top with sheer sleeves.

Party Essentials Kit

The Party Essentials Kit brings all your party needs to your game! This Sims 4 Kit has everything from snacks, and decor, to music and party props! A total of twenty-seven items are in this pack! For decor, we are talking lighting, streamers, balloons, and decorative snacks! You have to have snacks at parties… that is just a given!

There are several lighting fixtures included in this Kit that bring a bright and colorful party atmosphere! I enjoy the neon lights and the gradient wall light! The freezer bunny is super awesome and fun! The bright colors just bring the part to the room! These items can also be used for other builds and rooms as well, which I really like having versatility in content.

The Party Essentials Kit also includes a new bar, dance floor, TV, and stereo. Out of all the items I most enjoy the tiled wall, it has a lot of really fun color patterns. I will be using this as a colorful backsplash in kitchens! I tried it in my review test lot and absolutely love it!

I personally like to know where the inspiration came from and absolutely love matching sets. So themed Sims 4 Kits and packs of aesthetic themes, I enjoy reading about them.

I personally enjoyed looking at these two kits. I did do a live stream on our Twitch channel and we talked about how the Urban Homage Kit brings back those fond fashion-style memories of the 90s and early 2000s. The butterfly tops, jean jackets with crop tops, overhalls, and more. We totally remember these and the vibrance of colors in this era of Fashion and it is nice to see it included in the game.

Of the two I personally would buy the Urban Homage Kit first, but my playstyle also leans more towards Create a Sim, than building and decorating. For those who play events or like to decorate for events the Party Essentials Kit is very useful. I cannot wait to see what Simmers create with these two new Sims 4 Kits!

Poolside Splash Kit Review

This Poolside Splash Kit Review is brought to you by the EA Creator Network Program.

Your Sims will be ready to make a splash with this new Kit! The Poolside Splash Kit has new content to update your Sims’ swimwear styles. We are talking twenty-nine new styles for your swimwear looks! Many swatches with bright colors and patterns make this kit perfect for taking your beachy looks to Sulani! I have to say I am a big fan of that muted teal and coral. Love those color tones together!

Above are the twenty-nine pieces of Create A Sim (CAS) content included in the Poolside Splash Kit. There is a variety of swimwear in many different patterns, as well as new nails, necklaces, shoes, sunglasses, and even kids’ swimwear with floaties. The bracelet, one pair of glasses, one pair of sandals, and one pair of shorts are for both Masculine and Feminine Sims.

The overall element I enjoy most about this pack is the swatches. I am not much of a fan of bright colors, except red, black, and dark purple… but these muted tones… I love them. I already mentioned the teal and orange coral, but this coral and cream pattern is lovely.

Female CAS

There are several options for swimwear for Female Sims in the Poolside Splash Kit. Some of these options are one piece, and others are two pieces. The two pieces encourage mixing and matching; the variety of the swimwear and the matching patterns and color palettes allow for many possibilities in different looks.

I honestly had to stop myself at seven different looks for Female Sims, as there is more than just Female Sims CAS content in the Poolside Splash Kit. I’m going to repeat it, though… that teal. Love it. I tried to branch away from the coral orange and muted teal with some pink, purple, and yellow. Definitely a variety of swatches and styles in this kit.

If you are someone who does not download a lot of CC, this is a handy pack when it comes to Female CAS content. There are halter tops, monokinis, shorts, two-piece swimsuits, bikini tops, high waist bottoms, swimsuit cover-ups… and I could go on and on.

I will also point out that the swimwear pieces I used for this blog all fit all sizes of Sims. This is a plus in my book, as I don’t make my Sims all the same size. I generally use randomly generated Sims for my blogs to get a variety of Sims, and it always turns out well!

Male CAS

For a kit, there is a lot of variety for swimwear and accessories, even for your Male Sims. I like how the swatches and patterns match each other throughout the different styles. So yes, there is that flamingo print for almost everything! Flamingos for everyone!

For the Poolside Splash Kit, I get super beach vibes. With the open shirts and sandals, this pack is perfect for beachwear and hot weather attire. Which for EA made content was most definitely needed.

The ability to mix and match the tops and bottoms is a super plus for me. There are a lot of possibilities, and yes, there are a couple pairs of speedos.

Kids CAS

The only piece in the Poolside Splash Kit for kids is the swimwear outfit with the floaties. Which is cute and looks good, but you cannot remove the floaties. Love that crab and fish pattern; it is super cute.

Summary

This kit pack’s highlights are the range of styles and the swatches. I love the overall color palate and am pleased with the swatches and patterns available. The only thing I didn’t care for was that the floaties are not an accessory and come with the suit. I like that two-piece with the floaties on the Female Sims floaty set.

I also like the Speedos; they add more variety than shorts for Male Sims. Cream, coral, and teals are my favorite colors from this kit, but I like the flamingo pattern. Overall, this is a great filler pack if you make a lot of lots with pools or take your Sims swimming or to the beach. There are many options to mix and match for your Sims’ looks.

The Grunge Revival Kit Review

Did you all see the new Sims 4 kit that just dropped? The Sims 4 Grunge Revival Kit is now available. Let me tell you I have been waiting for grunge fashion for a longggg time! I am so excited to take a look and review this Sims 4 kit because goth and grunge were my go-to aesthetics in High School and College! I love grunge fashion so let’s take a peek at this Sims 4 Grunge Revival Kit!

What Is Grunge Fashion?

Before we get into the full Grunge Revival Kit Review, let’s discuss grunge fashion. This fashion style has been around since the mid-1980s and usually went with the grunge music scene. The music bands that really inspired this style were; Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and of course Nirvana. Yeah, you know what we are talking about those flannel shirts, ripped jeans, and Converse shoes! What is interesting as the style was more of a low-key aesthetic but then turned mainstream in the 1990s. There are so many different variants of grunge fashion as well; punk grunge, hippie grunge, pastel grunge, indie grunge, and 80s grunge. Due to the music bands’ inspiration for the style 80s grunge is the most identifiable. This style has been around for a long time and is not going anywhere.

The basic elements of grunge fashion are loose fitting and durable clothing that is not form fitting. Materials in grunge are generally cotton tees, flannel tops, striped sweaters, and jeans. Thrift store wear is also completely acceptable clothing for this style as well as; Skull Caps, Combat Boots, and Band Tees. As far as jeans go, low-rise ripped and wide-legged jeans are all acceptable. This low-maintenance style also includes very light makeup and hairstyles that seem like nothing much was done. Yea for messy half-up buns and eyeliner!

Why is it Trendy?

Now it is essential to understand the timing of all this before we jump on in to look at all the goodies in this Grunge Revival Kit Review. Grunge has been on a fashion trend comeback for a long while now. Some styles of grunge fashion now include Boho styles creating a new updated more designer-chic-looking grunge. So really grunge never did go away. I usually see grunge as more of a fall/winter trend. But with the boho element and other ways of styling it can be pulled off in the summer. Instead of jeans, just long jean shorts would be an easy way to get that Summer grunge look, since it is Summer soon in the United States.

What Comes In the Kit

Now you have either already scrolled to the photos or are sitting there like “Come on Jezi, get to the stuff!!” So here we are… what comes in the Grunge Revival Kit… Before we start there are a total of twenty-five (Jezi Math) new items in the Sims 4 Grunge Kit. The overall aesthetic I am seeing is the 80 alternative rock grunge. Which is normally what people think of when they hear grunge fashion. This Kit has new clothing options for Teen thru Elder Sims. And has both masculine and feminine styles and has accessories for this age group as well. Another addition to this grunge kit is a couple of tattoos. So let’s take a look!

Feminine Clothing

Overall there are some decent pieces with this kit. I was expecting more torn-up pants or do-it-yourself amended clothing. For the most part, I am relatively pleased with this kit. We all know how much I hate letting go of CC so that really should say a lot. I really like these ripped shorts and the belt design on them.

Masculine Clothing

The clothes in the masculine style are a lot of the same pieces from the feminine style, there are only a couple things that are not in both styles. With that being said though this is typical of grunge fashion. As the clothing is a little less fitted so it was not uncommon for clothing to be the same when this style was in its prime.

There are quite a few varieties of flannel in the swatches of the flannel shirt and some multi patterns giving the Do It Yourself and secondhand vibe. There are also a good amount of tee shirts and hoodies that resemble band-like logos and other designs that are consistent with the grunge style.

Accessories

So looking at accessories there are a few different things in this kit; painted nails, some chain and lock jewelry, a chunky bracelet, big sunglasses, and a pair of biker shorts. All of these you would have found in grunge fashion. I am not a fan of the accessories as the textures and swatches are not as complete as they are on the clothes and shoes. It is still a great addition to your game, as there was not much like this in EA content, so it is definitely nice to have access to these items!

Shoes

There are two pairs of shoes in this kit and they fit the overall grunge fashion aesthetic. I love the checker shoes, as they are perfect! However, I would have liked to see a pair of combat boots. Even in the general 80s/90s band grunge look combat boots are a staple part of the style. It’s like you had two options of shoes with grunge… skater sneakers or combat boots.

Tattoos

Wahoooo New tattoo! I am not surprised to see tattoos in this kit as Tattoos and the grunge aesthetic are generally seen together.

Final Thoughts

Even with my excitement about this kit, I definitely feel some staples of grunge were missing as someone who has dressed the part for many years. Sure there are great pieces in here, but I would have loved to see tie-around-the-waist flannels, ripped tights, high socks, more accessories, and hairstyles. I adore the ripped shorts and the hoodies, these are super great quality.

I would still label this kit as a great kit, just more what I would classify as a preppy basic variant of 80s grunge. Sure it has elements of actual 80s grunge, but everything is super clean and even the torn pants seem clean. There are several all-new designs with loads of swatches and it is a kit, so it’s a smaller over all set. I think my favorite piece is between the checkered sneakers and the torn up shorts. I love them both! So overall great kit and a decent addition to your game if you are looking for more alternative and grunge fashion.

Basement Treasures Kit Review

This Basement Treasures Kit Review was brought to you by the EA Creator Network.

Alright, we have a brand-new kit to look at! This Kit is called Basement Treasures and was released on 4/20/2023. This kit has twenty-six (Jezi math) items, all themed around things you typically find in your basement. This is neat, as this is a new area of content not previously seen in the game. Sure, there is CC that covers everything you can imagine, but now there is a Kit by EA for basement stuff. I will warn you now there is a plant in this kit, so be very glad this is a blog instead of a video, as I’d be screaming and carrying on about plants… I love plants that much!

The Buy Objects

From what I count, my math can be questionable… I see twenty-five new buy objects. You will also be pleased to know there is a wide variety of these items. Within this Basement Treasures Kit, there are seating items, clutter items, surface items, decor items, and lighting items. Of course, my favorite is the new plant. I just love plants; what can I say! And… it is even on a little stand!

The overall theme is consistent throughout all the items. All the items defiantly look like something you could find in a basement. I like how the kit is not all about floor clutter pieces; that is more what I was expecting, cobwebs and floor clutter. The theme also stays true throughout the different color swatches on the items, so it all fits together quite well and matches the basement theme.

The Build Objects

There is not much in the building department in this kit. However, there is one new wall paint, which is expected with twenty-five buy objects and the theme being the basement.

Final Thoughts

For a kit, there is a good bit of new content or upcycled elements from previous games. The boxes and corner clutter items are just perfect for this kit. This is not my kind of style. However, I see these items as a handy addition for those who build.

I giggled at the dissembled classic heart-shaped bed, and this kit definitely has nostalgia value from even that acted bed. I really want to see this bed come back into the game. It is just one of those nostalgic elements that many of us remember back to The Sims… Yea, the original Sims. So, I was thrilled to see the reference in The Basement Treasures Kit. Of course, any new plants I am totally down for so… there is that.

I am not generally a kit person, as I use only CC; however, this is not bad for those who build. Definitely some neat additions to your game… and now you can actually make a basement! You can now make basements LOOK like basements without CC. So, the Basement Treasures Kit is handy for those who limit their CC downloads, mix and match CC and EA pieces, or do not use Build/Buy CC.

The Sims 4: Free To Play & FREE Desert Luxe Kit

The Sims 4 base game is going free to play! Beginning on October 18th, the base game will permanently free to play for all new players across all supported platforms.

EA states that their team is still dedicated to creating memorable experiences for players, and they will be continuing to develop packs, kits, and SDX content for the “foreseeable” future.

The new Desert Luxe kit is also freely available to all players who have already purchased the base game. The Desert Luxe Kit will available for free until October 17th, 2022.

Lastly, there is an event coming up called Behind The Sims Summit on October 18th, 2022, at 10am PT on their YouTube and Twitch channels. It is unclear what will be presented at this time.

How To Redeem – Desert Luxe

The Desert Luxe Kit is freely available on both Origin and the EA App.

There are no special steps you need to take to redeem the kit for free. Simply find it listed in the store section of whichever app you are using (Origin or the EA app) and it should have a price of “Free.” You can then install it and play the same as any other kit/pack.

Note that there was a bug in Origin that would cause all other kits to also show up as “owned.” This was merely a display glitch (the other kits couldn’t actually be installed)that EA claims has been resolved.

Behind The Sims Summit

Mark your calendars, the next big Sims event will be on October 18th, 2022, at 10am PT.

EA has not really revealed any details about what this “summit” is for. All we know is that it’s a “special edition” stream for sharing more about “what’s in the works.” Suspicions have arose that this stream will be for the announcement of The Sims 5, but that remains to be seen!

Rise and Shine

We’ve survived Lights Out and the nocturnal encounters within, now it seems someone has remembered to pay the utility bill, and the lights are back on! Every wolf needs a good tan, as they say. (Who’s “they?” Don’t ask questions.) The Sims has revealed the roadmap for 2022, covering July, August, and September. Get ready to rise and shine!

“This season is all about letting your personality shine — start trendsetting early, create an ideal sunlit space, and grow into your brightest self.”

We have one Expansion Pack, one Style Kit, and one Build Kit. (Where have the Stuff Packs gone? That’s the world’s next biggest mystery, right after “Where have all of these kits come from?”)

While we’re all busy rising and shining, The Sims team has announced a trailer tomorrow, June 30th, 8AM P.T. They’re talking with simmers about what it was like to be a teenager, which is shaping up to be the theme of the pack.

Notably, they show a graduation cap and pencils in one of the images, as well as that all-too-familiar “S” design that everyone was so obsessed with in school. (Or was that just me? I promise I’m not currently drawing one…)

“Rise and Shine” itself could also be a reference to getting up for school. In some places, school starting times are known to be painfully early.

Looking at the teaser, there are an awful lot of plants. The phrase “grow into your brightest self” could also be taken rather literally. Is it too soon for another plant kit, after Blooming Rooms? (Is it too soon for another kit, ever?)
