A Sneak Peek at the Gameplay in The Sims 4 Royalty & Legacy Expansion Pack
Where do we even begin? This pack has a lot to offer! From serene worlds to dramatics so intense that your grandmas would mistake them for a soap opera. The community has absolutely been buzzing about the new expansion pack. A new lot, stunning clothing, and the possibility of very scandalous gameplay.
On top of that, dynasties, scandals, shifting power, and a world that reacts to your Sims’ choices. This is perfect for long-term storytelling! Every decision seems to have real rewards and consequences, impacting not only your Sims but also others in Ondarion. Hopefully, as Electronic Arts releases more information on the pack, we can see just how in-depth the drama can get. We can’t wait to see how messy gameplay will get!
In addition to the big systems, there are smaller features that add a surprising amount of charm, even if you aren’t running a kingdom. Secret passageways, a new venue type, and fairy-tale encounters that give the gameplay a sense of history without losing charm and whimsy. I know what the builders are excited about!
The Backroom Lot: A Duel-Purpose Venue
For builders specifically, the Backroom is going to be a sole-feature of the pack. It isn’t just a new venue, it’s a transforming space that shifts function depending on the time of the day! Currently, it is limited to only three daytime categories, which are: Library, Gym, and Museum. Even so, the flexibility within those options gives players plenty of room to experiment. But we can hope EA will integrate other venue types into this feature!
You can design it as a quiet study hall that turns into a nightlife hotspot, a training space that doubles as a secret club, or even a museum that becomes the unofficial center of kingdom gossip after dark. This feature should truly make the world feel more alive, adding to our everyday gameplay.
Secret Passageways: A Shortcut With Personality
Secret passageways are one of the more playful additions. They allow Sims to teleport between connected passageways placed on any lot in Ondarion. This opens the door for more intentional storytelling. Let’s just hope no princess falls in love with a knight, wink wink. Keep a close eye on those passageways! Or don’t, that’s part of the fun too.
Not only do these passageways add to the gameplay by allowing for better storytelling, but Sims can also uncover secrets, access a new WooHoo spot, and tamper with the cuckoo clock. The last one carries a risk. A malfunction can trigger the pack’s newest dramatic death. And there’s plenty more to talk about!
