If there aren’t any burglars in the game, like Robin Banks, any Sim can spawn as a burglar. This could make clothes look weird or have weird effects on the eyes.
Cats or dogs are supposed to automatically defend the house against burglars. (Burglar | The Sims Wiki, n.d.)
Detectives don’t get to arrest burglars as often, which appears to be one of the biggest complaints that I’ve seen on the Reddit forums.
If you want funny things like this to happen, leave the doors unlocked. Learn what happens.

A burglar in a plumber’s suit was chased away by a werewolf that was going crazy. It reminds us why we keep saving even when things are crazy: stories that come out of nowhere.
