The Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack Trailer

Sims 4 Life and Death

Discover the Afterlife with The Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack

Every ending marks a new beginning—especially for your Sims. The highly anticipated Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack, launching this October 31st, invites you to dive deep into the mysteries of the afterlife and beyond. From crafting bucket lists to navigating the eerie world of Ravenwood, this expansion is packed with rich experiences that will make you rethink what it means to live (and die) in The Sims 4.

Welcome to Ravenwood: A World Beyond

Ravenwood is a hauntingly beautiful realm where the veil between life and death is paper-thin. The town features three distinct neighborhoods, each with its own connection to the supernatural and the afterlife. Whether your Sim is exploring the crypts or visiting the town cemetery, Ravenwood offers an array of eerie yet fascinating locations to discover.

  • Crow’s Crossing: Known for its frequent ghostly visits and mysterious events. Pay homage to the deceased at the cemetery, help the Ghost Mother find her lost children, or partake in the festival of life at the Celebration of Life event. Don’t miss the Mysterious Merchant who sells otherworldly curios!

  • Whispering Glen: A countryside steeped in myth and mystery. Gardeners and collectors will feel right at home here. Be sure to attend the Moon Revelry festival at night, where Sims can swim under the moonlight or dance around the bonfire. During the Full Moon, things get wild (and clothing becomes optional).
  • Mourningvale: If eerie and unsettling are your Sim’s vibe, Mourningvale will send chills down their spine. The Baleful Bog offers Sims the chance to have an out-of-body experience or even transition into rebirth. The Grim Reaper has also been known to make appearances, so keep your eyes open for deathly encounters.

Life Beyond Life: Ghost Powers, Rebirth, and More

The Life and Death expansion brings a new system called Soul’s Journey, which unites Aspirations and Wants into a cohesive path that rewards Sims with special abilities. The ultimate prize? Rebirth. With this ability, Sims can return to life, unlocking Childhood Development Skills, Traits, and Infant Milestones. Reborn Sims can even reconnect with friends from their past life, making for heartwarming (or haunting) reunions.

Ghost Sims can also continue their Soul’s Journey to complete Unfinished Business. If they succeed, their Rebirth will be even more powerful, unlocking the coveted Burning Soul Trait.

Ghost Sims and Their Unfinished Business

If death isn’t the end, why stop living? Ghost Sims now become playable household members, bringing chaos or kindness depending on their mood. Customize your Ghost Sim’s appearance in Create-A-Sim (CAS), build Ghost Powers, and earn Simoleons from their interactions with the living.

A new Ghost Mastery system allows Ghost Sims to gain experience points and unlock new abilities, such as the “Dream Weaver,” which helps living Sims get a good night’s sleep. For those who enjoy more mischievous powers, abilities like the “Levitator” let you cause chaos by haunting the living.

New Careers: Reaper Profession and Undertaker Career

If your Sims have an affinity for the afterlife, they can now work alongside Grim himself in the Reaper Profession. Starting as a Grimtern, Sims will eventually rise to become full-fledged Reapers, tasked with facilitating the next phase of life for other Sims. You’ll work at the Netherworld Department of Death (N.W.D.D.), meet your soul quotas, and—if you’re good—become Employee of the Month!

Alternatively, the Undertaker Career lets Sims work as Morticians or Funeral Directors, helping the living and the dead move on peacefully. From grave digging to embalming, this career path is all about before-afterlife care.

Embrace Mortality and Explore New Features

From making Wills at the Town Hall to attending funerals, The Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack brings mortality to the forefront of your Sims’ lives. Wills allow your Sims to designate heirlooms, leave personal notes, and even plan their funerals in advance. With new Grief Types like Denial, Anger, and Holding It Together, Sims will process death differently based on their personality and relationships.

In addition, this expansion introduces the Ghost Historian Aspiration and three new traits: Macabre, Chased by Death, and Skeptic. Unlock the Thanatology Skill and even witness the eerie new Death by Murder of Crows—a chilling addition to the ways Sims can meet their end.

Are You Ready?!

Don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime (and afterlife) experience. Get ready to embrace the unknown, create unforgettable stories, and explore the mysteries of what lies beyond in The Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack!

Some of the Sims community have even said they think they seen cameos of Nervous Subject and Olive Specter in the trailer. What do you think? Read more about these two spooky individuals here: The Mystery of 13 Dead End Lane
