The Sims 4 Finally Recognizes Your Toxic Mother-in-Law

The Sims 4 has received an in-laws update!

Yesterday, The Sims 4 received a base game update in preparation for the latest pack, which included some pretty neat features! But let’s talk about what really caught our eye! In-laws! They can be great, or toxic(to truly embrace the in-law way). Either way, they’re in the Sims, and they’ve received an update!

New relationship labels include: Mother-in-Law, Father-in-Law, Sister-in-Law, Brother-in-Law, Daughter-in-Law, Son-in-Law, Distant Relative, Distant Relative-In-Law, Half-sister, Half-brother, Stepmother, Stepfather, Stepdaughter, Stepson, Great-grandmother, Great-grandfather, Great-grandson, Great-granddaughter, Parent’s Cousin, Cousin’s Child, Grandniece, Grandnephew, Grand-aunt, Grand-uncle, Ancestor, Descendant, and Relative-In-law. Divorced has a new name: Ex-Spouse, and Deceased Spouse has a new name: Late Spouse.

The new update can do so much for those who enjoy a good, messy family gameplay or those who enjoy intense family lore. If you own the Growing Together pack, the updated in-laws system will be perfect, elevating gameplay so that your Sims can deal with their official toxic mother-in-law, or even sister-in-law. Or maybe your Sim is the toxic in-law! The possibilities are endless.

It’s great that The Sims Team is updating these features that could really use a change. Let’s hope that they continue down this path of fixing and revamping the base game, and hopefully other packs! Those who play modded are very lucky, but for those who are unable, an unstable base game is very unfun.
