Now that I have played the Lovestruck Expansion Pack Gameplay and looked at the Create a Sim, Build, and Buy items I can present you with a Lovestruck review! These are my views and opinions as a Simmer, I have been playing Sims since the original game and own all Sims 4 DLC. I also am a Simmer who prefers Custom Content, CC over base, and DLC content for The Sims 4. So here we go, which is my first impression of the Lovestruck Expansion Pack.
Overall Top 10 Things I Absolutely Love
This Expansion Pack has a TON of content in it, so to make this Lovestruck Review a nice easy read for you all I am going to first start with the top ten things that I absolutely fell in love with from this pack. I will admit I am very smitten with the gameplay, world, build items, and buy items from this pack!
1 – Theme of the Pack
For starters, we needed this pack, even though some of us may not have realized it. Even I in the beginning was like a romance expansion?!? Why do we need that? Gameplay. This is something Simmers have been begging for more of and this pack delivers! The whole theme is romance and the new world is FULL of it. Both wholesome romance and spicey so Simmers can totally pick and cater their gameplay and Sims how they wish, giving more options to the player.
2 – The Design of Ciudad Enamorada
The design of this world and the overall city is AMAZING! There are so many places for perfect photos all over throughout Ciudad Enamorada. The entire city gives Southwest romantic vibes and is just absolutely stunning. There are fountains, art pieces, statues, and decor scattered throughout the entire world to explore and interact with and I am here for this. Everything is also very vibrant and fun, making the world super exciting!
4 – The Build Items
I will keep it short here as I did an entire blog on CAS, Build, Buy, and Debug items that you can find HERE. But… I LOVE LOVE LOVE the build items in this pack. Especially the windows and window cages that work perfectly for MORE PLANTS! Seriously, there are so many options for windows it is awesome!
5 – Cupids Corner
At first, I was not sure about Cupid’s Corner but I have found that I love going through and laughing at the profile photos. I also really enjoy setting up profiles for townies. It is also really awesome that the photo quality depends on your photo skills, of course, you can get a lucky shot like Morgan tho and you can keep trying until you get one you like.
6 – The Flower/Gift Shop
This is the adorable flower and gift shop you can buy flowers and gifts from in Ciudad Enamorada. Of course, you can also buy gifts and flowers from the phone, but I think this is just super cute. The little gift shop is just one of those things I have to point out in this Lovestruck Review that I just love!
7 – The Attraction System
So with the theme of romance, it is obvious that attraction and turn-ons and turn-offs needed to be included. These can be edited in the likes/dislikes section of Create A Sim. If you use the cas.fulleditmode cheat you can change them at any time. It is pretty in-depth and you get to select fifty items for turn-ons and turn-offs, making your Sims even more unique.
8 – Extra Spice and Wholesome Romance
Although I anticipated the extra spicy romance… I did not think I would get caught in the feels of the wholesome romantic interactions and moments. I honestly thought I was going to tear up on my stream. The stargazing, food sharing, and many other interactions are just so wholesome. But of course, you get to decide… spice… wholesome… or both! Which makes me love this option even more!
9 – The Axilotols
I am so excited to catch ALL the axolotls! There are so many and they are sooo cute!!!
10 – The Sexy Fireman Costume
Obviously, I really enjoy the sexy fireman costume… And CC skin overlays just make Carlos look even better in it. I am melting here.
Five Things That I Did Not Like
As much as I absolutely love the pack over there are five or so things I think could be better. So here they are so that you get an honest full review, rather than me saying I love everything, as that is not a true statement. If you are looking at getting this pack, these are my opinions and views, and for it to be honest I feel I need to share the negatives as well.
1 – Create A Sim
I am severely underwhelmed by the Create a Sim, CAS options, especially for masculine styles. Most items fit the theme and the costumes are a good addition but the other outfits are just meh, ok. I did a full CAS, Build, Buy, and Debug blog you can read HERE.
2 – The Costume Custom Bed Options
So we tried the fire costume on Carlos on stream and got this lovely funny option… “put out fire” with Jayden. Yes, you read that correctly. I love the creativity and spice but I could not find another costume with this custom option, it was just Woohoo. This is all fine and dandy… but Darth Vadar… missed an opportunity, I was expecting a pun for sure! Of course, I have not tried them all so there may be some but, from the ones I tried, I was like nooooo I wanted a funny!
3 – The Number of Lots in Ciudad Enamorada
I count thirteen lots and just like in a lot of my reviews, I want more plots! The same goes for this Lovestruck Review. I’m not asking for fifty, just more like fifteen to twenty, you know the little things. There are so many cute house shells that I would love to be able to have as actual plots for housing and other Sim fun.
4 – The Hotel Being a Rabit Hole
The hotel is a rabbit hole. This was very disappointing to me. I wanted spice and another new lot type. I know we have rentals and vacation rentals but room rentals that you could actually see would have fulfilled my dreams of hotels and resorts in the game.
5 – CC Breaking Almost Every Update
The first couple of updates broke my CC so badly that I was panicking all day Thursday. I had Sims ready to put on Cupids Corner to make the Friday Stream more interesting and I spent hours fixing my game, just to have to move my mod folders again… and again, turning them off and on hoping nothing would break. For several hours my Create a Sim was broken and poor Jayden had no clothing or hair.
Summary
Aside from the technical difficulties and a few things that I did not really like, overall I do really enjoy the Lovestruck Expansion Pack. To me, this was the pack we did not know we needed, but will drastically improve romantic gameplay and Sim relationships on a whole new level. I will say this pack is now in my top three favorite Expansion Packs. The other two favorites are Cottage Living and Growing Together.
