Imaginary friends can be quite creepy if you’re an adult Sim watching your child talk to literally nothing. Like, who is that kid talking to? They’re just talking to themselves! But in the child’s eyes, they see their dearest friend; that’s right, even the Sims 4 imaginary friends, and we are going to look at a situation that had one Simmer totally creeped out.
Imaginary Friends
Over on r/LowSodiumSimmers, StarFireRainbow is creeped out by their Sim’s kid. What do you even do as a parent in this situation? Do you support your kid and their interests, or do you take them to therapy? What’s the harm in having an imaginary friend, right? We suppose not, though how far is too far in this case? It only gets creepier as the friendship deepens. It goes from watching your kid giggling in the corner of the room to them insisting their “friend” deserves a spot at the dinner table! Then they begin to insist that their “friend” gets tucked in too. When does it end?
It’s a real dilemma for both your parent Sim and child Sim. On the one hand, you want to be the supportive and cool parents who encourage creativity and imagination. On the other hand, you’re watching your child talk to the air. You’re trying to keep a straight face as the child insists you treat the imaginary friend the same. And of course, the child Sim is just absolutely thriving. They’re just living their best life with the doll. Is it just a phase? Or do we truly need to intervene? The age-old question all parents ask themselves, even in The Sims 4.
But that’s just how parenting in The Sims 4 goes. You never know if you’re nurturing a child that will become a creative genius or raising a Sim that will become unstable. Either way, at the end of the day, you’re just trying to not make the friend mad. Or else you’ll face your child Sim’s wrath. Dag Dag!
