Ok, so it’s not October 3rd, and this is not a boring pep rally… The Sims 4 is releasing a Mean Girls and Clueless Kit on August 27th. Omg that is so fetch! That’s right: Sims 4 Mean Girls and Clueless Kits. Obviously, this is going to be filled with Y2K and 90s preppy styles.
Before we dive in, what is the appropriate level of Mean Girls puns and quotes? Answer: “The limit does not exist.” Now I am wondering if anyone has been getting the many Mean Girls references Queenie and I have been making over the last few years…. Anyways, on to the Kit.
When Do These Kits Come Out
According to the official Sims 4 Release information, these Kits will be available on August 27th. That is just a bit over a week. We aren’t doing the math, as we are definitely not a Mathlete, but the kits will be here very soon.
Is the Velour Track Suit Included?
According to the official release, the Cool Mom Velour Track Suit is included. And the iconic Mathlete Jacket. I would expect more focus on preppy tops and skirts, since these items are definitely prominent in both Mean Girls and Clueless.
What Even are These Kits??
Clueless
So long ago, in 1995, the iconic movie Clueless, starring Alicia Silverstone, Brittany Murphy, and Paul Rudd, was released. The movie is about a super popular high school student who likes to fix things and give makeovers… not to mention her family is very wealthy, and she is totally superficial. “As if.” It is a story about High School Drama. The character Cher is super popular and a total fashionista, and finally learns what is actually important in life.
Mean Girls
Then, about a decade later, Mean Girls comes out in 2004 and takes trends by storm, casting Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Tim Meadows. Right. With that cast lineup, what is even going on here? Ok, so basically Lindsay Lohan’s character, Cady, moves to a new school, and Rachel McAdams’s character, Regina George, is the leader of “The Plastics,” the top-tier popular clique. Basically, they make Cady over and help her on her way to becoming a Plastic. Then she starts becoming Superficial (noticing themes here); anyway, it’s full of drama and one of my all-time favorite movies.
Summary
I am personally definitely more into Mean Girls than Clueless; what can I say, I’m just like everyone else and love Regina. These Kits are just in time for Back to School, and… Y2K styles and 90s preppy are still a Mega IRL Trend (Y2K has been a Mega IRL Trend for the last five years). So again, perfect timing, even though it’s not October 3rd or being released on a Wednesday… Because we wear pink on Wednesdays. I am actually quite surprised this is not a trio with Legally Blonde… as that also fits with these two iconic 90s and Y2K styles.
