Five Things I Love About The Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion

On October 31st, The Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack was released!  This pack has many new gameplay features, Create A Sim, CAS items, and Build and Buy items!  I have already reviewed the CAS items and played many hours in this Expansion.  So, let’s look at five features I absolutely love about The Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack!

How Much Have I Played

The Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack

Aside from sleeping and taking my son trick-or-treating on Halloween, I have been playing the Life and Death Expansion Pack. Friends were messaging me to see if I was okay, as they had seen my status in Discord, “Playing The Sims 4,” for so long. One friend said I had been playing for over ten hours straight.  So, I have played quite a bit in the last couple of days!

What I Loved About This Expansion Pack

The Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack

This pack, hands down, has been the most fun to review!  I absolutely love doing reviews, but this Expansion has been quite special.  When I heard the announcement of the Life and Death Expansion Pack, I was really at a loss about how and why it would be a full Expansion.  As a longtime Simmer, I thought I saw this as quite a stretch after the initial announcement.  But I stand corrected. This is an amazing Expansion Pack.   If you like the occult, story creation, mysteries, active gameplay, and dark, macabre aesthetics, this Expansion is the one you have been waiting for. So, let’s take a look at my top five favorite parts of this expansion pack!  (in no particular order)

1 – CAS

The Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack

Initially, I was skeptical about this theme and was not quite sure what directon or theme this Expansion pack would go to… But OMG, I love most of the New CAS items in the Life and Death pack!  If I had to pick one element, it would be the hat; yes, I have a similar one, so it’s not a biased opinion at all.  Ok, I am very biased, but it works for this pack, as I have been living the dark fashion lifestyle for over twenty years.  So when I say I would wear or like eighty percent of the CAS items, we know it’s good!

2 – Reaping

The Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack

So, there is a new active career in the Life and Death Expansion… the Reaping career.  You get to work for Grim and take souls to the Nethergate to be released into eternity.  Sounds creepy, right? Well, it is.  Now, don’t worry, active Sims in your world. From what I have seen, you can choose if you reap them or not, so you can save them if you wish. The part I love the most about the Reaping Career is the cause of death investigation.  You cannot swing that scythe without all the information first, so you must investigate various things like CSI to do your job correctly.

3 – The Look of Ravenwood

The Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack

The world is absolutely stunning. Do you realize how many photos I am going to take here? Ravenwood is divided into three neighborhoods: Crow’s Crossing, Whispering Glen, and Mourningvale. Mourningvale is the Ghost area and looks like a spooky, ethereal swamp. The town area is Crow’s Crossing; it just has that old, historic town feel. I love it. Whispering Glen is a rural area with ruins, rich history, and collectibles.  They are all stunning in their own unique designs but still fit together nicely.

4 – Edith

So, without planning it, the first thing I did in the gameplay was meet Edith. I just popped up there and saw the ghost. So there is an entire story that you have to figure out, but spoiler… Edith is a child who is a ghost, and it is spooky. Sims gets terrified just by talking with Edith, so Edith is a very angry ghost kid.  What I love about this element is the storytelling and obvious spookiness of the game.

5 – Rebirth

The Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack

The option for a Sim to be reborn is incredible for Legacy Simmers or Simmers who really enjoy playing with one Sim throughout their gameplay.  This is a new way of doing this, as you do not have to keep using the elixirs to make a Sim’s life longer.  Each life, you do have to complete your bucket list items or Soul’s Journey, and you will be rewarded at their death with the option of rebirth. I like that there are hits and moodlets of their past lives and extra elements the Sim reborn.  The player can also select what household to place the reborn Sim into, so it does not have to be the currently played household, giving the player many options for stories and gameplay.

Summary

The Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack

There is so much in the Expansion Pack that I struggled to pick five of my favorite things.  The Tarot Cards are also a great addition as they give you a little bit more active gameplay each day for your Sims.  I love the push in these last two Expansion Packs for more active gameplay, fewer rabbit holes, and more Sim story ability.  I have been playing more since Lovestruck, and I intend with this pack to start a legacy with my Morgan Sim that I made to review the pack.
