Electronic Arts, the publisher behind the Sims franchise, is being bought out and taken private in a whopping $55 billion all-cash deal. The buyer group is led by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), with Silver Lake and Affinity Partners also on board.
The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of fiscal 2027.
Shareholders are gaining 25% out of this, as they will receive $210 per share. But for players, especially The Sims 4 community, the big question is what this means for the future of EA’s biggest franchises.
What Worries Players?
The community is concerned this buyout could disrupt long-term support, expansion, and the roadmap for the next generation of the series.
Some even worry that they might lose access to the packs they’ve already bought.
