Welcome to Drab to Fab #4 – Modern Summer Homestead Kitchen. We are transforming tired spaces into lively areas full of personality. In this makeover, our client sought a fresh start with a cozy, homestyle feel that combines rustic charm with modern comfort. We updated a dark, outdated kitchen and dining area into a bright, airy Modern Summer Homestead Kitchen. This design features calming green colors, natural materials, and thoughtful details. It shows that with the right ideas, even ordinary spaces can become the heart of a home.
The Before
Before the remodel, the dining area of this homestead kitchen felt heavy and outdated, with dark wood tones dominating the space and making it feel smaller than it really was. While the stone-textured walls and rustic stove hinted at charm, the overall layout lacked cohesion, and the dated furnishings didn’t quite capture the fresh, welcoming vibe our client desired. The curtains and bulky furniture made the room feel closed off rather than airy and open, and the space needed a touch of warmth, brightness, and personality to truly shine. It had great bones, but it was ready for a transformation that would bring it from drab to fab.

The Client’s Requests
For this Drab to Fab transformation, our client was ready for a fresh start—dreaming of a homestead lifestyle rooted in comfort, warmth, and modern charm. Wanting a space that felt both practical and beautiful, they envisioned a Modern Summer Homestead Kitchen where everyday cooking could blend seamlessly with cozy gatherings and a connection to nature. By pairing soft sage tones with natural wood accents, incorporating greenery for life and warmth, and upgrading to sleek yet subtle appliances, we created a kitchen that feels airy, inviting, and full of character. This remodel isn’t just about style—it’s about crafting a welcoming heart of the home that reflects our client’s new chapter and homestead vision.

Hanging plants and floating shelves add vertical interest, making the walls feel lively and warm rather than bare. Underfoot, the patterned tile flooring introduces bold character with its vintage-inspired motifs, balanced by a neutral rug that softens the look and creates a cozy work zone by the sink.
