Today, we were expecting an update from The Sims 4 in preparation for the latest expansion pack. But it seems that something went wrong.
If you updated your game, please refrain from saving and exiting! Check your game version. If you are on version 1.121.342.1030, please exit your game now without saving, as it can possibly corrupt your save!

We have reason to believe this is true as a staff member of the Sims discord released the following statement;
Simmers,
We’re aware that some of you are experiencing issues with today’s Base Game Update. We know how disruptive this can be, and our teams are actively working on it. We’ll share next steps as soon as we have more information.
So please protect your saves! Always create a backup, and wait for EA to release a statement on what to do.
