Room Reno: Animal Crossing Inspired Build

Welcome back to Room Reno #7 here at The Sims Resource! This week we’re doing something super special: an Animal Crossing inspired build based on the house I have on my island!

Wait. What?

don’t talk to me or my daughter ever again

Yeah, this Room Reno is gonna be a little different than normal. If you don’t know much about me, I love Animal Crossing. Don’t ask me about the amount of hours I’ve played because it’s both impressive and very embarrassing. As you can see in the photo above, I even like to dress like Isabelle on occasion. But this is a Sims series, so who are we helping in The Sims?

Meet…me?

Since this is a special edition of Room Reno, the Sim we’ll be helping is my very own Simself. She’s taller than my Animal Crossing character, and definitely has a smaller head, but she deserves the same house regardless. Let’s see what we’re working with!

The Before

So. We’re working with a completely blank lot here. A first for Room Reno, but certainly not for me–I’ve been building “functional” Sims houses for years now. Trust me. I can do this. Before we get planning, I have to get a reference photo from my Switch so I know what to build.

This is my house! I change the exterior based on the season, so for right now it’s bright and pastel for springtime. On the right side of the house, I have a bike and a clothesline. On the left, I have an outdoor swing and a table with a book on it. I’ll have to keep these placements in mind while I decorate. Let’s get planning!

The Planning

My planning is based around the three main pieces of the lot: the house, the clothesline on the right, and the bench on the left. By basing the build around these main pieces, it will make adjusting and placing the smaller items much simpler and will also help me use the correct amount of space for everything. I also have to allot space for apple trees behind each side of the yard, which should hopefully help the build feel more like Animal Crossing. Now that the planning is done, it’s time to get building!

The After

Here’s the final product! I think it turned out really well and definitely captured the essence of my Animal Crossing home. I wasn’t able to find paneling with the same pattern as my AC house, so I opted to use a similar color siding with gray brick on the bottom to match the foundation. To recreate the bush fences, I used the moveobjects cheat to make a mini fence using square hedges. My favorite spot in the recreation is the right side of the yard–the bike, the clothesline, and the washtub all look adorable and just like my Animal Crossing furniture does. The links on the table below will lead you to the CC pieces I used, so check them out if you want to download!
