Updates

Recent Patch Issues: August 10th, 2022

Hopefully we are all getting settled in after the chaos of the High School Years patch and pack release! By now, we are no stranger to the issues that can come with a new pack or patch. Today we’re going to take a look at how to fix any of the remaining issues that you may have in your game from the last round of updates!

Game Patches

First off, EA has patched some of the bigger issues that came with High School Years – namely, inappropriate romantic wants and premature aging. Aptly titled “Growing Pains,” you can check out the patch notes here.

PC: 1.90.375.1020 / Mac: 1.90.375.1220 / Console: 1.62

The Sims 4
  • Sims with a short or long Lifespan no longer become younger or age dramatically when leaving Create a Sim.
  • The “Ask to be Girlfriend/Boyfriend” Want now targets appropriate Sims.
  • Adult Sims no longer tag teens in flirtatious Social Bunny posts.
  • All available Sims now can be selected for travel even if they are currently not on the current lot.
Get Famous
  • Sims without Fame no longer occasionally appear to have it.
High School Years
  • Sims now can walk through the I Was a Teenage Garbage Artist pile of clutter.

Broken Custom Content & Fixes

Beds

The biggest Custom Content related issue from the high school experience, excluding Mods, was custom beds. The new pillow fight interactions resulted in all pre-existing beds disappearing upon placement.

If you still have beds disappearing, there are a couple of options:

1 – Re-Download. If you’ve downloaded beds from TSR, they have all been updated to be compatible.

    • If you use the CC Manager tool, then it will track any updates for content you have installed.
    • If you do not use the CC Manager, you can check the Download History from the Account Menu on site. There is a filter within the Download History that will let you filter by only content that has an updated version available.

2 – Batch Fix. A batch fix will scan your Mods folder and attempt to fix the beds automatically so that you do not have to redownload them. (Note that batch fixes are generally targeted for solving one specific issue with a particular type of CC.)

Both TSR Workshop and Sims 4 Studio contain a batch fix for beds. In TSR Workshop, the batch fix can be found under the Tools menu. For Sims 4 Studio, the batch fix can be found under the Content Management > Batch Fixes menu.

Hair & CAs

If you haven’t played for a while, you might also find that a large number of alpha-style hairs and other sim details (skins, overlays, etc) may be displaying with errors, appearing as if they are full of holes. This was caused by an update with the Werewolf pack, and a batch fix exists for this as well in both TSR Workshop and Sims 4 Studio.

A batch fix was also ran on TSR’s servers, so you can re-download any outdated content you have, and the new version should be working correctly.

Note that an automated batch fix is not guaranteed to fix everything 100% of the time. There may be changes within the content that the creator has made that will prevent a batch fix from working correctly. If content cannot be fixed by a batch fix, then it’s up to the creator to manually fix it.

More CAS Columns

There have been continuous reports of people having issues in CAS, with content swatches showing as gray squares, and also not being able to properly switch between swatches.

This is known to be caused by a now-outdated version of the More CAS Columns mod. Downloading the newest version of this mod should solve the issue.

RAVASHEEN Mods

Following up on issues reported last month with the Saleabration set that was causing game errors, RAVASHEEN has released an update that temporarily removed some features until the issue can be properly resolved. If you use that mod, it is recommended to update it ASAP.

New from RAVASHEEN is the Skewl Is Kewl set. The default high school that came with High School Years is quite large, and quite empty – this set remedies that by giving you a ton of new options to help decorate with!

Other Mods

It is very common that mods (Actual gameplay-altering mods, not just Custom Content) will break with every patch.

If some part of your game seems like it’s broken, and you have mods, that’s the first place to start looking. Outdated mods can call all kinds of strange things to happen. Gameplay mods will frequently need to be updated and redownloaded.

With every major update, luthienrising keeps a list over on the official TS4 forums of mods that are known to have issues, are outdated, or that have been updated and fixed.

CAS Content & Trendi

Another “fun” bug has been discovered with custom clothing and the use of Trendi.

If you use any CC that was created after the High School pack release, using that CC in a look on Trendi can result in a save error.

Currently, the solution for this is to simply remove that content from your game. There is a thread about the issue over here on EA’s Answers HQ. It is still unknown if this is something that CC creation tools will be updated for, or if a batch fix can or will be created for this issue. As EA is collecting save files, it may be a bug that is addressed in a future update.
