Now that the Sims 4 Royalty and Legacy Expansion Pack has been out for almost a month, is it worth the cost? I think it is, and we are going to look at five things I absolutely love about this pack, as well as three areas where I think it missed some opportunities. Regardless of my personal opinions, I must say that the theme of this pack is quite different from the other expansions we’ve seen, which is why it’s no surprise that the community is still raving about this pack.
About the Expansion Pack
The Sims 4 Royalty and Legacy Expansion Pack was released on February 12, 2026. The overall theme of the pack is creating a dynasty and a legacy to continue it. This includes a noble career, drama, secrets, kissing frogs, swords, secret passages, enchanted mirrors, grand waltzes, and more.
Five Things I Love About This Expansion
There are a lot of things I absolutely love about the Royalty and Legacy Expansion Pack, and I am limiting my list to the top five. Some elements mentioned are broader topics, but I believe they are all great features of the Expansion Pack.
1 – The World – Ondarion
The world of Ondarion is simply stunning. It is a coastal realm divided into three neighborhoods: Damble, Verdemar, and Bellacorde. Each neighborhood draws inspiration from different cultures: Damble from West Africa, Verdemar from Portugal, and Bellacorde from Italy. Each area is known for its unique highlight: Verdemar is home to the Sword in the Stone, Bellacorde features the Enchanted Mirror, and Damble hosts Anansi’s Well.
2 – Sword Fighting
Yes, there is sword fighting and even dueling tournaments in the game. Swordsmanship is a new major skill that can reach level 10 with the Royalty and Legacy pack. Players can practice dueling with a dummy or a partner and compete in tournaments for glory and riches. There are several types of swords available, and the better the sword and the higher the skill level, the more likely a player is to win the tournaments.
3 – The Build/Buy
For players who enjoy building and decorating in The Sims, the Royalty and Legacy Expansion Pack offers over 245 items in the Build and Buy categories. The items are available in three distinct aesthetics that reflect the world. This allows players to create and design their builds in those styles or mix and match elements from each. 4 – Frog Kissing
Although this expansion pack is set in a more modern time, it still features the classic storybook tale of kissing a frog. You know the story of where kissing a Frog turns a prince or princess. So yes, you can kiss a frog… Any frog, of course, there are perks to getting Noble Frogs, but I’m not going to kiss and tell.
5 – The Grand Waltz
What can I say, I am a romantic at heart, and the Grand Waltz just fits my need for a classic ball. I also really love matching outfits. Being able to choose the color and theme of the outfits guests wear is an added bonus!
Three Things I Think That Are Missed Opportunities
Now onto three areas I think that could be better. There were two areas in the Royalty and Legacy Expansion Pack that I definitely wished there were more to. The final element was a bug I ran into, or at least I hope it was not designed to be like that.
1 – Children and Toddler Clothing
As I mentioned in my CAS Review, this Expansion Pack provides a very limited number of options in CAS for children’s and toddlers’ clothing. With the theme being all about royal elegance, I had really hoped for more in these areas. It will be a struggle to dress royal families with little ones without CC, as there are only a handful of dresses, a couple of suits, school uniforms, and a couple of pairs of shoes.

2 – Masculine, Children, and Toddler Hairstyles
My two biggest underwhelming areas with this pack were in the CAS area, as mentioned above, there are limited options for Children and Toddlers. This limitation of design options also applies to hairstyles and includes masculine hairstyles. Even more concerning, the hairstyles seem to just be aged down from older ages. A couple of age downs are generally fine. But when you have over 215 CAS items on an Expansion Pack, you expect to see a little more variety.
3 – The Press Conferences
The only bug, or at least what I think is a bug, that I encountered in Royalty and Legacy was the press conference. When playing my Dynasty in Damble, I went to use the podium at the palace on the 2nd floor. My Sim was ready and going to give a press conference at the palace. However, that is not what happened. All the citizens, nobles, and other dynasty members began gathering at the podium on the beach. I then had to rush my Sim to the area, completely botching the press conference.
Final Thoughts
While conducting the coverage on the Royalty and Legacy Expansion Pack, I have played the expansion for over 100 hours. All things considered, only running into one possible bug that is pretty good. Despite finding three areas I was not fond of, the pack is full of content and features I absolutely love. The world is absolutely stunning, and there are so many opportunities for gameplay in this expansion. I also cannot wait to see the incredible castle builders are going to create!
